The Madame Web just dropped its first trailer and fans are anxious to know whether the upcoming Sony film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here is all you need to know about the movie’s link to the MCU.

Is Madame Web part of the MCU?

Madame Web is not a part of the MCU.

The upcoming Madame Web film is not confirmed to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The recent trailer also shows no evidence of the film being connected to or even set in the MCU.

Moreover, according to the recent synopsis of the film, Madame Web seems to also be set in an entirely different universe separate from the SSU (Sony’s Spider-Man Universe), which includes the likes of Venom and Morbius:

“Meanwhile, in another universe…” In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

While this is bizarre, there is still a possibility that Madame Web could connect to not only the MCU but also to the SSU and the Miles Morales Spider-Verse animated universe, thanks to her clairvoyant abilities. These powers are tied to the Web of Destiny and Life, a web that binds the spider-totems across the multiverse or Spider-Verse.

Will Madame Web be in the Avengers?

Madame Web is not confirmed to be in the Avengers.

However, if the rumors about 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars featuring virtually every character from both MCU and non-MCU films including Tom Hardy’s Venom are to be believed, then Madame Web, via her connection to the Web of Destiny and Life, could eventually find herself encountering or teaming up with the Avengers, particularly the MCU’s Spider-Man to save the multiverse and stop the looming threat posed by The Beyonder.
