Shah Rukh Khan is all set to give yet another blockbuster with Rajkumar Hirani’s highly anticipated film, Dunki. Scheduled to release on December 21, 2023, the film is based on an illegal immigration technique named, Donkey Flight. Dunki stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal, among others. Red Chillies Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films, and Jio Studios produced the film.

The first unit of the film, Drop 1, was received extremely well by fans and the second unit was just released. Check out the Drop 1 teaser clip for the film here:

What is the budget for Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film Dunki?

Since the announcement of Dunki, there has been a lot of speculation about its budget. The film was shot simultaneously with Jawan and is set to release in December. It’s a well-known fact that Shah Rukh Khan’s films require a substantial amount of time for shooting and involve enormous budgets. However, Rajkumar Hirani finished Dunki in just 75 shoot days, out of which Shah Rukh Khan only shot for 60 days.

As per reports, the cost of production of Dunki was just $10 million. However, this does not include the fees taken by stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Taapsee Pannu, and Vicky Kaushal. But taking into account their customary fees as well as the fact that both Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are also the producers, the budget of the film stands at $14 million.

Dunki’s budget is reportedly the lowest for a Shah Rukh Khan film in the last 6 years. This film marks his lowest-budgeted project in a lead role since perhaps Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), which had a total budget of just $3 million.

However, the film already has its non-theatrical rights pre-sold in the range of Jawan, which means that the makers of the film are looking at a profit of around $11 million.

Catch Dunki in theatres on December 21, 2023.
